Thank you Thomas Grier
One test that is not available to humans is the FAST Test that tests for Lyme and I think two other pathogens. The science for serology testing mammals is the same as humans, so standard ELISA tests and Western Blots are standard , but they are not crippled by asinine IDSA interference that restricts human testing and interpretations. (For example no arbitrary designation that 5 bands have to be present on an IgG Western Blot) In ruminants like cows band 41 on a Western Blots can be so heavy that it obliterates other possible bands most importantly band 39. This scientist that was the Vet advisor for the LDF and knows way more than me on any and all Vet Medicine. Sandy Bushmich, MS, DVM
Professor, Pathobiology and Veterinary Science, University of Connecticut Director, Connecticut Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (CVMDL) January, 2012 I have been posting some Elizabeth Burgess DVM articles going back to 1986 because she was an early pioneer who now 30 years later is showing that she was right and 30 years ahead of her time. She paid a price for her out spoken and controversial findings like transmission from cow urine through mucous membranes of other cows. In other words in endemic areas entire herds were being infected by cows putting their face in other cow's urine streams. Now we don't hear much about entire herds being infected. I believe increased antibiotic use (Oxytetracycline and using the dog vaccine decreased lateral transfer of the disease.
