Thomas Grier Here is a sample of just some of the work being done by the Paul H Duray Pathology Fellowship Foundation. We have the proprietary rights to Fluorescent FISH stains, that can make the otherwise invisible Borrelia bacteria stand out in infected brains. We were the first to correlate Borrelia miyamotoi a Tick-Borne-Relapsing-Fever spirochete with Alzheimer's dementia. This finding suggests that Borrelia within the human brain stimulates the production of amyloid. Associated with the amyloid plaques are biofilms of Borrelia bacteria. This work suggests that early detection and early treatment of neuroborreliosis could diminish or possibly prevent the progression of neuro-Lyme to dementia and senility. Note the presence of Borrelia burgdorferi in the brain of the patient with Lewy Body Dementia. (Paul H. Duray Pathology Research Fund)
