Lynn T Shepler JOHN AUCOTT, MD -- #pantsonfire !!!! PULL THE FIRE ALARMS!!! John Aucott, MD (co-author) states about this study: “These patients are lost,” he says. “No one really knows what to do with them. It’s a challenge, but the first thing we need to do is recognize this is a problem. There’s not a magic pill. These patients already got the magic pill and it didn’t work.” We know what side he plays for, and it isn't ours. Otherwise, he would have said the patients got what was considered at the time to be the "magic pill" and it didn't work, and go on to discuss the long list of reasons why short course monotherapy antibiotics didn't work -- multiple infections on board requiring different agents, etc --- and say that we need to proceed to antibiotic trials involving multiple agents and longer periods of time, citing regimens used to control tuberculosis or brucellosis, for example. Instead, Aucott implies that antibiotics don't work at all, and we should move on to some other theory of disease. An idiot. I would not give Aucott a dime more in research money from the Lyme community. He's dangerous. He is NOT HONEST. All you have to do is to give these patients antibiotics and see that they Herx. If they Herx, then they're still infected. And then, btw, measure the cytokine elevation with antibiotic administration to get the hard data that a Herx just occurred. How could he NOT know this having seen all those Lyme disease patients? #pantsonfire Lyme Disease Costs Up to $1.3 Billion Per Year to Treat, Study Finds www.jhsph.edu/news/news-releases/2015/lyme-disease-costs-more-than-one-billion-dollars-per-year-to-treat-study-finds.html
