This is from 15 years of talking to Lyme patients in online support groups and Chat rooms. This only shows how dissatisfied Lyme patients have become with the way Chronic Lyme is being handled by medical doctors .. With over a million new cases of Lyme disease yearly now in America, i do not think asking a doctor if you could have Lyme disease should be a big problem..
If I were a Doctor
If I were a Doctor I would learn all I can about tick borne diseases.
If I were a Doctor I would not blame my patient’s symptoms on depression or stress ever.
If I were a Doctor I would never tell my patient that Lyme tests are accurate when they are not.
If I were a Doctor I would reassure my patient that I will do everything I can to get to the bottom of their medical troubles.
If I were a Doctor I would not put a label on my patient like Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, MS, ALS, Lupus or Parkinson’s until I did a full clinical evaluation for Tick Borne Diseases.
If I were a Doctor I would tell the truth to my patient that I do not know anything about Lyme disease and send them to a LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor) who does.
If I were a Doctor I would not assume patients can only have one thing going on, when patients can have multiple medical troubles going on at the same time.
If I were a Doctor I would use the CD57 test as a guide to see if my patient is fighting off an infection or not.
If I were a Doctor I would not refuse to do a Lyme test because of where someone lives or because I do not believe in Chronic Lyme.
If I were a Doctor I would not use the Standard Western Blot test to tell a patient that they do not have Lyme disease. I would also tell them the truth that Lyme test is unreliable and flawed and that Lyme is also a clinical diagnosis.
If I were a Doctor I would tell my patient that they only test for one strain of Lyme out of a hundred in America and that they still could have Lyme disease even though the test is negative.
If I were a Doctor I would not tell a patient that a tick has to be attached for 24 to 36 hours when this has never been proven to be true in any study done with Humans, all studies have been done on animals and some were known to be infected in less than 16 hours of attachment.
If I were a Doctor I would never tell my patient that Lyme can only be contracted from the black legged deer tick when this is known to be false, most all ticks carry disease and many have gotten very sick from the brown dog tick with full blown Lyme in the South.
If I were a Doctor I would follow peer-reviewed driven ILADS (International Lyme Disease and Associated disease society) and not proven flawed IDSA guidelines.
If I were a Doctor I would follow my oath to first do no harm and tell my patients the truth even if does not fit the standard Lyme guidelines.
If I were a Doctor I would think outside the Box even if it does not go along with what I have been taught in med school.
